A+ Certification
A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level computer service technicians.
A+ Certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry. The program is backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications. In a recent survey of more than 10,000 certificate holders, most candidates for certification said attaining the credential would help them to land their designated job because an employer would be confident that their general knowledge had been tested. Candidates feel more qualified with the A+ Certification, attain a higher salary, find that many companies require A+ certification, and discover the certificate helped them to change careers. Above all, candidates feel the credibility associated with certification is its greatest attribute.
About the Tests
To become A+ certified you must pass two exams - CompTIA A+ Essentials and one elective exam (IT Technician, Remote Support Technician, or Depot Technician). The A+ test contains situational, traditional, and identification types of questions. All of the questions are multiple choice with one correct answer for each question. The test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any vendor-specific products. Once you receive A+ certification, you never have to worry about your certification expiring or update requirements - CompTIA does not require you to update even if the exam changes.
Complete test objectives can be found on the CompTIA website.
