Coffee, tea, cocoa, soda, water, and pastries or bagels are available at the coffee stations (on the 27th floor these are near Classrooms 1 and 4; on the 28th floor they're in our lobby).
The bathrooms are located on either side of the elevators in the main elevator lobby on both floors.
On the 27th floor the women's bathroom is closest to the receptionist. The men's is through the service doors by the drinking fountain in the elevator bay. On the 28th floor the women's bathroom is down the hallway past Eisenhower and Carlson. The men's is through the service doors by the drinking fountain in the elevator bay.
On the 27th floor, student phones are located outside of Classroom 1. On the 28th floor, they're located in the main lobby. Please don't use the phone in the 27th floor lobby or the phones in our conference rooms or offices without first asking a Netdesk staff.
To make a call, lift the receiver, dial "9", then the number. Long distance calls are restricted (if you need to make a long distance call, your Account Manager will be happy to arrange it).
Your office or family can leave you a message while you're in class by calling (206) 224-7690. Messages will be posted on the door to your classroom.
Cell Phones: Feel free to use your cell phone while you are here, but please respect your classmates by stepping out of the classroom to take your calls. And, please respect the Netdesk staff by not taking your call in their offices without checking first. If you need privacy for a phone call, we'll be happy to arrange - talk to your Account Manager.
We invite you to check your e-mail or browse the Internet during breaks and lunch. Please respond to e-mails at appropriate times - lots of keyboard entry is distracting to your classmates.
Netdesk provides Internet access as a convenience - please help us by following these guidelines:
- Do not surf sites that contain potentially offensive material.
- Respond to e-mails only on breaks or lunch - lots of keyboard entry is distracting to your classmates.
- Please try to limit your surfing to breaks or lunch. We have a lot of material to cover over the next few days. Staying focused on the material and the instructor is key to staying on schedule and to a positive learning environment for all students.
Visit http://www.netdesk.com/HotelsSeattle to search for hotels in the Seattle area.
Bring your parking ticket to the receptionist after lunch and she will validate your ticket. Please write your name and course name or number on the ticket. If you're bussing it, Metro bus tickets are also available from the receptionist.
Please take your books with you each day when you leave. We have night classes and other activities in our classrooms in the evenings and we don't want you to be missing a book when you come back in the morning.
Be prepared to get some exercise if you use the stairs. Because of building security, you can only get out of the stairwell at the lobby level. So, we recommend taking the elevator between the 27th and 28th floors.
Here's a list of some places we like to eat lunch. It's a wildly varied list. We've listed everything from the best teriyaki joint to places you can sit down and have bouillabaise. They are all within walking distance of Netdesk, so have fun and chow down!

Looking to explore downtown on your lunch break? Here are a few suggestions:
On the first Thursday of every month, the Seattle Art Museum (1st and University), admission is free. You'll see art ranging from African masks to Old Master painting to contemporary Northwest Art on display.
Pike Place Market, at 1st and Pike Street, is a lovely place to take a stroll and look at all the fresh flowers, fish, vegetables and crafts. While you're down there, have lunch at The Athenian Inn (624-7166). "Sleepless in Seattle" was filmed there.
If you want a little more exercise, hop on a bus in the bus tunnel and you're only a few minutes away from Pioneer Square and the International District. The Elliot Bay Bookstore on 1st and Jackson is a must for book lovers with a highly recommended downstairs cafe for coffee, sandwiches, soups and dessert.
Need to do some shopping? Westlake Center not only has plenty of shopping, but also a food court on the top floor. Macy's is at Third and Pine; Nordstrom's is at 6th and Pine. There's also Pacific Place at 6th and Pine.
Freeway Park located just outside the Convention Center offers the perfect place to have a picnic when the weather is nice. |
